There are two underpinning theories for this study namely; (a) resource based theory and (b) dynamic capabilities theory. This study will administer 464 copies of questionnaire to staff of the Accounting Professional Service firms and structural equation modelling will be used to analyse the data collected. The study suggests that employee’s ability to explore ideas have effect on their work roles which ultimately can improve innovation and sustainable performance. Findings from the review also suggest that Human Resource professionals and managers must formulate, manage, monitor, identify and map policies around idea exploration to tackle task performance related issues so as to achieve competitive positioning.
