Abstract

The digital is increasingly present in everyday life and Society 5.0 is one of the possible attempts of this materialisation, due to the political dimension, which originates in Japan but, more or less intentionally, is having a profound impact in other societies and economies. This paper offers a reasoned discussion on Society 5.0 and the central relevance that Sociology – as scientific knowledge of the interactions between individuals and the influence of the social context based on the rigorous process of research and subsequent presentation of results – may take on in the heuristic and the subsequent grounded implementation of digital tools in the development of a more balanced, stable society that assumes the reduction of inequalities in this digital dimension and which necessarily result in economic, political and social inequalities.

Keywords: Society 5.0, Digital Society, Sociology.
