Abstract

Overview of the theory of the entry of Islam into Indonesia is divided into 3 theories. First, the theory of Gujarat, India. Islam is believed to have come from the Gujarat - India region through the role of Muslim Indian traders around the 13th century AD Second, the theory of Makkah. Islam is believed to have arrived in Indonesia directly from the Middle East through the services of Muslim Arab traders around the 7th century AD Third, Persian theory. Islam arrived in Indonesia through the role of Persian traders who on their way to Gujarat before the archipelago around the 13th century History proves that Islam entered Indonesia peacefully through 3 sectors, namely Trade, Culture, Art and Politics. It cannot be denied that Islamic values have greatly influenced the culture of the Indonesian people since the entry of Islam until now. On the basis of the above information it can be believed that the cultural values of the Indonesian people are very close to Islamic values. So, it should be assumed that building the character of the nation's children will also be more effective if it enters through the door of religion and culture. The development of the character of the Indonesian nation at this time is strongly influenced by the era of globalization which provides an opportunity for all Indonesian people to enjoy the advancement of science and technology so that slowly the land of the Indonesian people enters and penetrate the international community Through technology people can freely access various shows that can slowly erode the morals of the nation's children. Pornography, violence, sexual deviations and violations of other legal norms become an interesting spectacle which in the end turns into a heartbreaking true story that occurs at all levels of society, especially the younger generation. Overcoming this, the Indonesian National Education System promotes character education at all levels of formal education. Elementary school education is the lowest level of formal education which is the foundation of the nation's character development because, during elementary school this is an important period in the development and growth of the "golden age". The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method that is research used to examine the condition of natural objects, where researchers are key instruments. The object of research is elementary schools that carry out character education on the basis of religion and culture in Bogor regency. The results showed that there were three models of the implementation of religion-based education and local wisdom namely, the Holistic Model, namely the implementation model of comprehensive and integrated Character Education implemented in the pesantren; Integration model, namely the implementation of character education by integrating religious and cultural values into all school activities, this model is found in Integrated Islamic elementary schools; and Partial character education model that is the implementation of character education carried out separately with general education material.
