INNOVATION CLIMATE IN THE EDUCATION SERVICE A CASE STUDY ON THE TAMIL LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT

Abstract

The following report explores on the concept of innovation in the public sector and in the course of inquiry, teaching and learning of Tamil Language in the education service is adopted as a case study, focusing on employees' perception. The first part of the report provides the background to the research in terms of providing pertinent information on the Education Sector and the indispensable role embedded for Innovation. The second part of the report expands on the Literature Review exploring concepts of 'Innovation' and 'Education'. The third part of the report sets out to explain the research methodology in terms of the background of the questionnaire and the method of analysis. The fourth part of the report articulates the findings of the research highlighting the key findings in terms of the innovation perception, barriers, drivers and outcomes from the point of view of six employees interviewed. The final part of the report highlights on the areas in which the Tamil language department should embark upon so as to ascertain greater success, in the field of innovation for the teaching and learning of Tamil Language.
